So what happens when a planning application is submitted?
When an application is submitted in for planning in goes through several stages. This includes a Validation Process, Consultation Period and finally a decision notice complete with reports.
How long is the validation period usually?
The majority of local authorities aim for applications to be registered within 10 working days however with the impacts of Covid-19 and together with high demands for Architectural Services this has resulted in delays across the network.
What happens after the validation period?
Once an application has been validated it typically takes around 8-12 weeks for an application to be processed and a decision notice to be produced.
What is the situation at the moment?
We are noticing significant delays across the network at the moment and some areas of the country are more affected than others.
The majority of areas are experiencing delays of around 3-4 weeks to validate applications.
